A Board Certified Florida Bar Civil Trial Attorney, John R. Sutton has spent his career fighting for justice for his clients. Representing clients in personal injury, medical malpractice, wrongful death and other types of civil and criminal cases, he has earned a reputation in Florida, and beyond, as an accomplished litigator.

Over the span of a career spanning five decades, Sutton has represented those who had been wronged in civil and criminal cases from accident to verdict and appeal. His litigation career began when he was 24 years old when he joined Travelers Insurance Company serving as In-House Counsel. Not long thereafter, he joined a private litigation practice and four years later, he became a sole practitioner.

Sutton goes the distance when representing a client. Licensed by the Florida Bar Association, he often obtains permission to appear as a foreign counsel in other states and United States District Courts to serve his clients in judicial areas where he is not regularly licensed.

In particular, he has represented clients in jury trials in Alabama and Georgia State Courts and in the United States District Courts in Georgia. He has also, with full disclosure and permission of the Courts, represented clients in California, Louisiana, New Hampshire, Iowa, New York, Tennessee, New Jersey, and Arkansas.

In 2004, Sutton became a crime victim himself during an in-home invasion. After recovering from severe injuries and armed with a new dedication to seek redress in our courts of law, he has continued to operate his law firm in the South Miami same location where his office has been since 1981.

Sutton graduated from Gettysburg College, Gettysburg, PA, with a B.A. in political science and a minor in history. He earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Miami School of Law and has been a member of the Florida Bar since 1972.
