Over 40 Years Of Experience, Board-Certified For 35 Years
Many lawyers will handle your personal injury case, but few have the track record and legal experience of our lead attorney, John R. Sutton. In fact, Mr. Sutton is one of just 7 percent of Florida lawyers who are board-certified by the Florida Bar in handling civil litigation.
With over 40 years of combined experience, our South Miami attorneys have been recognized throughout Florida and beyond as a legal team with a successful track record for getting results.
Our Personal Injury Practice
We have handled many types of personal injury matters, often representing clients with:
- Accidents, including slip and fall injuries in retail outlets or grocery store parking lots and sidewalks
- Cruise line injuries, resulting from slips-and falls, foodbourne illnesses, and ship staff negligence
- Construction site injuries, due to hazardous work environments due to unguarded or unsafe machines or equipment
- Electrical contact injuries, involving those in close proximity to electrical lines while working on job sites
- Firearm injuries, involving the negligent shooting or mishandling of a gun or other firearm
Serious, Catastrophic Spinal Cord And Traumatic Brain Injuries
Many of these cases, unfortunately, involve injuries that are serious and catastrophic. As a victim of a catastrophic event, our founding attorney, John Sutton, has a firsthand knowledge of just how life altering and financially damaging such events can be.
We have experience representing individuals who have suffered traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries including quadriplegia and paraplegia, blindness, amputations, and knee reconstruction.
This knowledge has resulted in successful monetary awards for his clients.
Case-In-Point: Construction Injury Settlement
A case-in-point involves a construction site injury case our firm handled in 1999.
A client of Mr. Sutton's was employed as a shell contractor, working on a townhouse construction project in Fort Myers, Florida. He sustained serious spinal cord injuries after the joist of a structural steel system, loaded with 4,000 lbs of bundle wire and unsupported by lateral bracing, collapsed onto him.
After receiving a seven figure jury verdict at trial, the case was appealed by the general contractor involved with the project.
The Second District Court of Appeal later affirmed the decision. But, soon after, Sutton and his co-counsel were able to successfully negotiate over a million dollar settlement (the original jury verdict plus interest.)
